Tracking time is critical for understanding how planned work compares to actual effort—and for getting a true picture of team capacity. But to capture good data, time entry needs to be simple and flexible for everyone.

With Prism PPM, there are two easy ways to log time:

  1. Directly from your task list
From your user homepage, you see all tasks on your to-do list. You can log time against each task right there: enter hours worked, note what’s left, add comments if needed, or mark the task complete.
  2. From your timesheet
If you prefer to log time in bulk, the timesheet shows all tasks for the week. You can quickly enter hours across multiple tasks at once, remove items, or add notes. This is especially helpful for users who want to submit all their time at the end of the week.

But project work isn’t the whole story. That’s why Prism PPM also supports non-project time with personal, team, and organizational calendars. These calendars let you account for activities that don’t fit neatly into a project—like training, professional development, or all-day events. When you block time on the calendar, it automatically updates your capacity and availability, so teams know when you’re unavailable.

By consistently tracking both project and non-project time, organizations get:

  • A more accurate picture of true capacity.
  • A clear comparison between forecasted and actual work.
  • Continuous improvement in scoping, estimating, and delivering projects.

Prism PPM is the project portfolio management solution successful organizations use to manage projects more efficiently, align with strategic objectives, and mature their PMO practices.
